Mount Pleasant has a BUILDING!!!!!!

As many of you know, our congregation has worshipped in the local Holiday Inn for the past 3 years. In a few months we will transition from the Holiday Inn to our new home. We have purchased a building and three acres of land in the geographical center of Mount Pleasant.

Here is a quick picture of our new home:

I will write more on Monday or Tuesday, for now there is work to do!

Just a Thought

Do you want to know what troubles me about traveling to seminars, workshops and gospel meetings? My family cannot go. In fact, I have decided not to attend a workshop this year, because it conflicts with the starting of school. Alexis will being third grade and Emma will be a kindergartner.

I guess we could take the kids out of school for a week, but it is not something we want to do. We could also homeschool our kids, but imagine me, yes me, teaching children about school! Dr. Phil could not handle that counseling session!

While it may seem a small part of life to miss certain days, is it worth it? For years, churches have asked preachers to leave their families once in the fall and once in the spring to hold gospel meetings. What if we moved some of those meetings, specifically the ones involving preachers of young families, to the summer months or even the week of spring break?

Allow his family to travel with him and even fit the expenses of the trip. Giving his family time together as a “ministry team” would be a benefit to everyone. What about this: ask his wife to teach a ladies class when they are there. Give them opportunities to share their life with your congregation.

I dislike hearing children of preacher talk about how often their fathers were gone as they spoke at meetings and traveled the country. Secular jobs do that enough, let’s not invite our preachers to forsake their families.

Oh yeah, I heard you when you said, “In the summer…..no one would come then.” Does anyone come in the fall and the spring? The fact is, we need more groundwork before our meetings anyway.

Like I said, just a thought…

Where am I and what day is it?

Is today Tuesday? If so, what happened to Friday and Saturday? I remember Sunday because I preached a powerful and fulfilling message converting 10,000 souls in a brief 20 minutes. Oh, wait…..that was the dream I had on Saturday night going into Sunday morning, my fault; but I do remember Sunday. Monday was sometime before today, but it went so fast I cannot believe I missed it.

Time faster and busy time is faster, but God’s time is always right. For the past month the congregation in Mount Pleasant has continually worked to take advantage of an opportunity presented to us. As I mentioned many posts ago, our congregation has an opportunity to purchase a building and the time is at hand.

Continue to keep us in your prayers! If you are interested in knowing more, please contact me.

Below is a letter we are sending to various congregations:

_________________________________

Greetings brothers and sisters in Christ!

It is with much joy we write to this letter to you. Our joy is founded in the grace of the Lord and in an opportunity God has brought to our congregation.

For the past four and a half years, the Mount Pleasant congregation has been without a permanent home. Since beginning in 2003, when a small group of Christians decided to begin a congregation in Mount Pleasant, the congregation has met in rented facilities: a community clubhouse, an automobile tire store and currently in the Holiday Inn.

Recently, two Baptist churches merged and a door has been opened to purchase the unoccupied building and a three (3) acre tract of land.

Our current financial situation regarding the building purchase is as follows:

In discussions with the Baptist church selling the property, they have requested a $300,000 down payment and they will finance the remaining balance for fourteen and a half (14.5) years at 0% interest. Of the $300,000 down payment, over 90% of our congregational membership (20 families) has pledged approximately $127,000. We are asking other congregations to consider supporting us with the down payment if they find our church-planting mission worthy.

Attached to this letter is a more complete description of our congregation and our opportunity.

If you would like more information or have questions, you may contact the church office by calling (843) 364-8302 or email at office@mtpchurch.org

On behalf of the congregation,
