If you read this blog, you noticed I got a new ESV Study Bible this week. The smell, feel and crispness of a new Bible’s pages are pleasant to our senses, but one day I hope to wear this Bible out through use. In case you missed the un-boxing pictures, give them a look below this post. Here is a Friday Five dedicated to my favorite Bible stories; see if you know where they are. (The answers are found at the bottom of this post.)
Friday’s Five Bible Stories
5 – A leader of the people approaches Jesus by night to ask some deep questions after a profound confession.
4 – A single mom needs help from Jesus.
3 – A little boy becomes the star of the day!
2 – Listen to Jesus! Just Listen to Him!
1 – A prophet of God gets disrespected by 42 children. As a result the two bears mauled the 42 children!
Do you know where these stories are found?
5 – Nicodemus and Jesus (John 3)
4 – The widow’s son is healed! (Luke 7)
3 – Five Loaves and Two Fish (Mark 6)
2 – The transfiguration of Christ. (Matthew 17)
1 – Elisha and the Children (2 Kings 2)
Just my thoughts…
Opening the ESV
After much deliberation, I decided to purchase an ESV Study Bible with some left over birthday money. I have used the ESV as my preaching and my main study Bible since 2002. I was pretty excited to bring a new Bible home and show Carrie and the kids. To say the least, I am glad I did. Here are some pictures of “The ESV Opening.”
Hope you enjoyed!
Mattel’s Problem
Since it has been publicized on CNN, Fox News and other news outlets, I decided to post it here. I need to thank Paula Harrington for bringing this to my attention. She broke the first story I heard, and now I decided to find this doll in my area and bring it here.
The doll I am referring is the one where it says, “Islam is the Light.” This doll is sold in our local Toys-R-Us under the Fisher-price label. I called the Consumer Hotline for Mattel-Fisher Price to register a complaint. My complaint fell along the lines of the situation and their defiance of acknowledging this was a problem. If this doll had said, “Jesus is the Way,” the chances of it remaining on the shelf is few to none.
The customer service agent said it was the result of compressing the audio files that caused the problem. However, Mommy comes out just as good, yet that is a normal file. She also acknowledge while this is not a problem, this sound chip in the doll is being taken out, but she kept saying it is not a problem. If it is not a mistake or a problem, why take it out?
Here is my story:
I found the doll at Toys-R-Us with the help of an associate of Toys-R-Us. This lady was angered with these words and she let me know on the front end. When we found the doll and when the other people around heard what the doll said they became frustrated it was released. When I picked up the doll to examine, the man beside me said, “You are not buying that for your children are you?” Trust me, he was not happy I had picked this doll up and it gave him the impression I was buying it.
I told him I wanted to hear it for myself and he went into a diatribe on how that was wrong to have a children’s doll say such things. I totally agree with him. Yes, I believe in free speech, but let free speech be free speech, not speech allowing whoever yells discrimination the loudest win.
America, Islam is not the light , nor any other outside of Jesus. Stand firm on your freedoms of our country, but stand higher and firmer on the truth of Christ!
Here is the video for you to see and hear. You will hear the words, “Islam is the light” near the end of the video.
How to Waste Time
Time was created by the human mind when we began to determine their is value in the rising and falling of the sun
from day to day. The light replenishes the earth from morning till evening before taking its slumber and allowing the stars of the universe to lull us to sleep against the background of the big ball of cheese we call the Moon.
From the beginning of time, we have cherished waking moments and chilling dreams. People have tried to bottle up time and some have tried to stretch more time out of a day. Still others have broaden their time to be still and barren. Every full day, God provides with with 24 hours to do as we see fit; worship him, serve him or love him, it is your choice.
Recently I have found many people, including myself (first and foremost), wasting the precious time God has allowed us on this Earth. So I have compiled a list of the five possible ways you can waste time this week:

Gallagher’s Five Ways to Waste Time
5 – Find a brother or sister you disagree with on an opinionate matter and hound him with emails. This begins an excellent week and it is sure to accomplish nothing but disunity and broken hearts.
4 – Talk about politics! Yes, I said it, in fact, I am YELLING IT!!!! Spend your precious hours of the day talking the failed or successful government policies and how electing Obama, McCain, Barr, Nader or Baldwin will make your life a blissful paradise! Oh yeah, remember God puts the authorities here.
3 – Watch the news! Unless you get a kick out of seeing how killed who, who said what and what the “experts” say will happen, you are probably wasting your time. Just think, how many times have you been happy you watched the news?
2 – Starve Yourself! Be sure you take no food this week. Take all the spiritual goodness section of the food store and have nothing to do with them. Make sure to place your Bible in the back window of your car so it can experience sun stain. Hurry hide it!
1 – Do Nothing! Let Anybody do what Somebody should be doing, because Everybody is supposed to to it, but Nobody did it so Nothing was done!

Just a thought…
By the way friends, if you really do these things, we may never meet when this life is over!
