We Will Remember
Today is a day of memories and thankfulness for those who served this country. There are thousands of families grieving on this day as well as countless thankful citizens breathing the breath of life, because of the service of others.
“Freedom is not free.” (Martin Luther King)
I found this video on YouTube and found the words of the song as a great tribute and well worth viewing!

Here is another to consider on this day!

Facebook and Jesus and even God
Every time I log into Facebook, I get a small icon inviting me to become a fan of Jesus! Last week, I was asked to become a fan of God. Every time, I decide not to become a fan of Jesus or a fan of God. Yeah, I know some of you are fans of Jesus and fans of God, but I cannot! Let me share with you why…
I am a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and have been all my life. I loved seeing Lynn Swann make his falling catch or even Jerome Bettis plow over defenders in his path. I have the Terrible Towel, a Steeler hardhat, Steeler shirts and my children have Steeler toys. We are Steeler fans. Living in the south, I cannot see many Steeler games, but whenever they are on, get out of the way of the TV! I am part of the Steeler Nation!
But when is comes to Jesus, he is my brother! My relationship is deeper than clothing, toys and games, it is built on His blood. When is comes to God, he is my father! My relationship to God and His Son goes beyond the relationship I have with the Steelers. I pray for the Steelers but not too them. I cannot gain anything but a smile from the Steelers winning, but with God and Jesus, I gain all things because they never lose.
For some, being a fan is a night and day experience. When your favorite celebrity does well, or your team is winning you are happy, enthusiastic and excited, but when they are defeated or caught in a scandal, you become quiet and maybe even ashamed. I am never ashamed with God and neither should you be; He has, is and will be conquering anything this world and Satan has to offer.
This is just my humble opinion. I am not meaning to cut through a technicality, just describing my family; Jesus and my brother and God as my Father.
Are you a fan or family?
Just some thoughts…

Curses, Beatings and Pulled Hair
I have to admit there are times when I feel like giving people the “choke-hold of Jesus” before I fashion a whip and beat them, but I never do. (Notice I have thought about it, I just have not done it yet.) I have to remember that people are people and each of us has problems, yet we are all given the opportunity to be saved and enjoy a room in God’s mansion.
How many times have preachers struggled with what to do when members know the right choice but do the opposite? I admit I seriously struggle with knowing that people have the knowledge to do right, yet they chose to do wrong. I struggle with this everyday and I probably always will.
But Sunday was an eye-opener. After struggling with this for years, the answer came in Bible class Sunday morning! I was so excited, I had to share with with you. Now before I share, let me remind you that I believe the church should do “Bible things” as the Bible says and as its words communicate to us. I believe there are examples and principles in the Bible, as well as commands, that guide our lives as we deal with other people to bring about the glory of God.
With the above being said, I found the answer Sunday morning in the book of Nehemiah. Nehemiah saw the people making choices they knew not to make and his anger flourished. As a result, here is what Nehemiah did,
“?And I confronted them and cursed them and beat some of them and pulled out their hair. And I made them take oath in the name of God, saying, “You shall not give your daughters to their sons, or take their daughters for your sons or for yourselves.” The Holy Bible : English Standard Version. (Wheaton: Standard Bible Society, 2001). Ne 13:25. (Emphasis Mine – CMG)
Hum? Nehemiah confronted them, cursed them, beat some of them and then pulled out their hair….hummmmmm…..
“I think Nehemiah might be onto something? What do you think?
By the way, who says the Bible is boring?
Just a thought…
