Scott,

Thanks for your input on this question. I often wonder what would hold for this 5'9" frame. Certianly not professional sports, but who knows.

I do wonder if we realize how important the birth of Christ is in the scheme of our lives. While we spend much time on his death, as well we should, but we seem to only spend one time a year discussing his birth.

Just my thoughts

I hit submit too quickly.
If Jesus was not then the life of a Christian would be pitiable.

If Jesus was not born . . . What a question. I suppose like many above life would be totally different. I guess I would have pursued a career in Basketball either playing or coaching -- like coaching since I am Caucasian and less than 6'5". I also considered music / singing as a career.
Like others, my life would be broken in many ways. Some of the destructive substances and activities that plague peoples lives would be part of mine. As one who longs for approval, I am certain dependency would be a part of my life and downfall if Jesus were not a part of it.

Greg,

The first sentence made me laugh and is one I agree with. I guess as ministers, we get a different perspective than the world around us.

The change of income is a matter i had not thought of; interesting!

Thanks for stopping by!

I would have been unemployed for 30 years! Out of high school and part-way through college, I considered pursuing a music career with a friend who did that rather successfully. That career would have meant I did not marry my 10th grade sweetheart and I probably would be a moral train-wreck. We would also have 15% more of our income to use on ourselves.

If Jesus was never born, Christians would be extremely miserable (1 Corinthians 15:19). No life after death and no hope (1 John 2:25; 1 Thessalonians 4:13).
Might as well take on the Epicurean philosophy of "eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow you die" (Luke 12:19-20).

Mr Pauley,

Interesting take. I imagine several people would take that option.

I wonder how many would become practicing Jews.

I would have to get a "real job." I would not miss the end of any football game...ever.
Seriously, I would cuss a lot. I would probably have a wrecked family life because my self-centeredness would have free reign.
I am not one of these Christians who believe in the what-if-the-whole-thing-turns-out-to-be-a-lie-the-Christian-life-is-the-best-life-to-live. It wouldn't matter at all how I lived. If Jesus didn't come in flesh, bleed, die, and rise again, my life would be empty and meaningless and hopeless.
I would be separated from God forever.
