Postcards

Sending postcards are a great way to communicate to the congregation and to visitors. I have used postcards for years to communicate with the congregation. Some of the postcards below are the ones I have used and still use to communicate.

Advantages of Postcards:

  • Studies have shown that most people will read a postcard than a letter. You do not have to open a postcard, just begin reading.
  • A postcard stamp is 28 cents over 44 cents for a first class stamp.
  • Postcards can be made using a variety of colored papers to stand out in the mail. ( I recommend using yellow, blue and cream colored stock paper.)

The postcards below were created in Microsoft Publisher and are available for download at no-cost to you. To download the postcards, right click on the file and go to “Save As…” or you can click the file and open it immediately if you have Microsoft Publisher.

The postcards are able to be edited to fit the needs of your congregation. I have removed some of the information related to our congregation, but some have been left so you can get the overall idea of the message.

Congregational Information Postcards:

  • 100 % Postcard – A postcard to encourage the membership to participate in 100% attendance Sunday.
  • Picnic Postcard – When our congregation had a picnic I sent out a postcard to each family reminding them of the event.
  • Friends and Family Day – This is a big postcard day because cards are sent to our membership and to our contact list inviting them and then again to remind them of the event.

Visitor Postcards:

Personal Postcards:

  • Just Because – There is no greater card than one sent “Just Because.” Typically I will send cards/postcards to members for no reason but encouragement.
  • Sorry I Missed You – I use these cards and a variation of them when I go out visiting to leave a note for someone who is not home at the time.
  • Personal Bible Study Thank You – Several years ago I began sending postcards to people who participated in our adult Bible classes. Whenever someone spoke up, made a great point or just gave an idea, I sent them a postcard of appreciation.
  • Personal Invitation to Bible Study – Several years ago, I began inviting members to Bible Study. Instead of expecting them to be there, I invite them. I have used variations of this card for members and visitors.
  • Appreciation Postcard – This is a simple postcard I have sent to let people know their work is appreciated.

More postcards will be added as they are designed and distributed.

Enjoy the postcards and let me know how you use them in your congregation and in your ministry.

Thanks,
