Coming up out of the waters of baptism marks an unforgettable moment. You are raised to walk in newness of life, cleansed and forgiven. It is easy to wonder: what comes next? This is where your journey begins, not where it ends.

God has already provided everything you need for life and godliness. He supplies the power, the grace, and the foundation. In 2 Peter 1.5, Scripture gives us a clear call: “make every effort.” Growth never happens by accident. It requires intentional focus, daily discipline, and real spiritual grit.

Think of Peter’s words as a blueprint for building upon your faith. We are called to add virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love. (2 Peter 1.5-8) Each layer builds upon the one before it, shaping our character to look more like Christ.

Some days will feel challenging, but that is where real progress happens. Like the apostle Paul wrote, we press on toward the goal. (Philippians 3.12-14) We choose to pick up our cross daily, keeping our eyes focused squarely on Jesus. (Luke 9.23)

Spiritual effort is never wasted energy. The promise of Scripture is that when these qualities belong to you and increase, you will never be ineffective or unproductive. You become a fruitful branch connected directly to the true vine. (John 15.5) You bring genuine light, encouragement, and practical hope to everyone around you.

Never forget who you are or what God rescued you from. You were created for purpose, designed for growth, and equipped to run this race with confidence.
