Two Daily Bible Reading Programs

Two Daily Bible Reading Programs

The new year is approaching! Are you ready?

A few years ago I found a couple daily Bible reading schedules and developed some study questions each week for them. This year I want to share the questions with you each week to assist you in your studies.

Once of these studies takes its daily Bible reading from five passages from different sections of the Bible. There is one passages for each day. By the end of the year following this reading program, you will have read throughout the entire Bible.

The second study allows one to begin in the Gospel of Matthew and read to Revelation in 26 weeks. Following this plan will cover the entire New Testament in 6 months.

Note: I do not have a copy of the particular reading schedule charts that I developed these questions from several years ago.  If you are familiar with them, let me know. I would like to have a copy of the charts again. Thank you.

Give Satan a Nail and It Will Not Be Pretty

Give Satan a Nail and It Will Not Be Pretty

While visiting in Haiti, Dale A. Hayes heard a Haitian minister illustrate to his congregation the need for total commitment to Christ.

The minister told of a man who wanted to sell his house for $2,000. Another man badly wanted the house but couldn’t afford the full price.

After much haggling, the owner agreed to sell the house for half the asking price with just one stipulation: he would retain ownership of one small nail protruding from just over the door.

After several years, the original owner wanted the house back, but the new owner was unwilling to sell. So, the first owner went out, found the carcass of a dead dog, and hung it from the single nail he still owned.

Soon the house became uninhabitable, and the family was forced to sell the house to the owner of the nail.

The Haitian minister’s conclusion: “If we leave the devil with even one small peg in our life, he will return to hang his rotting garbage on it, making it unfit for Christ’s habitation.”[1]

Question – How much have you given the devil?

Paul tells the Ephesians 4.27 to “give no opportunity to the devil.”

Have you given a place, no matter how small to the devil?

Even one small nail can make a difference.

10 Interesting Things About the Bible

10 Interesting Things About the Bible

10 –  Old people should not retire; young folks need you! – Remember Moses led the people of Israel at the age of 80; Caleb was still vigorous at 85 (Joshua 14.10) and remember Paul’s words to the Titus (Titus 2.1-10).

9 – Sophisticated education is not needed to follow Jesus (Acts 4.13).

8 – Bald men, well at least one, have power (2 Kings 2.23-25)

7 – You can read the Bible every day.

6 – Everyone has a gift to use; given to them by God. (Romans 12.3-8; Ephesians 4.11-16; 1 Peter 4.10-11; Matthew 25.14-30)

5 – The Bible even has a book about sex. Apparently there is something God wants us to know. (Song of Solomon)

4 – It allows me to eat bacon. (Acts 10.15)

3 – The Bible proves itself. (Science does not prove the Bible, the Bible proves science.) – The more people search, study and investigate nature, they find themselves staring at a Creator.

2 – Hell is optional. – You do not have to go; there is a better place called heaven and the Bible tells you how to get there.

1 – It can save your soul!
