31 Days with Jesus
Luke 2:22-40 tells the beautiful story of Mary and Joseph bringing the infant Jesus to the temple, following the Jewish tradition of dedicating their firstborn to the Lord. This act of obedience may seem simple, but it’s packed with meaning—showing us what it looks like to offer our lives and our future to God’s greater plan.

At the temple, Simeon and Anna—two faithful servants who had waited years to see God’s promise fulfilled—recognize Jesus as the long-awaited Savior. Simeon’s words are filled with hope and gratitude: “My eyes have seen your salvation.” Anna, too, can’t help but share the good news with everyone around her. Their joy reminds us that God’s timing is perfect, and that our faithfulness, even in waiting, is never wasted.

Mary and Joseph’s dedication of Jesus is a powerful example of trusting God with what matters most. They placed their hopes, dreams, and their very child into God’s hands. In the same way, we’re called to dedicate every aspect of our lives—our talents, work, relationships, and future—to God’s purpose. True fulfillment comes when we let go of control and trust Him to guide our steps.

As you reflect on this moment in Jesus’ life, consider what it means to offer yourself fully to God. No act of faithfulness is too small. When we dedicate ourselves to Him, God uses our lives to shine His light and fulfill His promises.

Four Points to Remember:
  • Dedication to God means offering every part of our lives, trusting His greater purpose.
  • Faithfulness in small things, like Mary and Joseph’s obedience, has lasting impact.
  • God honors those who wait faithfully, as seen in Simeon and Anna’s joy.
  • When we place our hopes and dreams in God’s hands, He brings fulfillment beyond what we imagine.
