31 Days with Jesus
Matthew 26:36–27:66, Mark 14:32–15:47, Luke 22:39–23:56, and John 18:1–19:42 recount the most profound moment in history—the crucifixion of Jesus. In these passages, we witness Jesus’ betrayal, His agony in the garden, the injustice of His trial, and the unimaginable suffering He endured on the cross. Yet, in the midst of pain and darkness, Jesus willingly laid down His life for us.

The cross is where God’s love and justice meet. Jesus, though sinless, took on our guilt and shame, bearing the weight of every failure, fear, and regret. His words—“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing”—echo with mercy and grace, even as He suffered. The curtain in the temple tore, signaling that the barrier between God and humanity was forever removed.

The crucifixion is not just a tragedy; it’s the victory of sacrificial love. Jesus accomplished what we never could: He paid the price for our sins, opened the way to God, and proved that love is stronger than death. The cross stands as the ultimate symbol of hope, redemption, and new beginnings.

As you reflect on Jesus’ crucifixion, let His sacrifice move you to gratitude and awe. Remember that you are deeply loved, completely forgiven, and invited to live in the freedom He purchased for you.

Four Points to Remember:
  • Jesus’ crucifixion is the ultimate act of love—He gave His life so we could be forgiven.
  • The cross removes every barrier between us and God, offering hope and new beginnings.
  • Through His suffering, Jesus understands our pain and offers us comfort and grace.
  • Our response to the cross should be gratitude, humility, and a life devoted to loving others.
